Pursuit of Happiness

My complete lack of inspiration and motivation as of late has led me to sorta-kinda "abandoning" my blog. Not in the mood to spend time filling everyone's heads with my pseudo-inspirational bullshit (here on out regarded to as P.I.B., because it's a mouthful), I decided to keep mum until I actually had something to say. I'm sure my run-on sentences aren't something anyone would be missing.

Truth be told, I still have nothing to say. But another truth is that I want to speak. I want to say something. I want to be heard. I want to move people with my words and give them the inspiration and motivation I currently cannot find from anything or anyone else.

It's a selfish feeling of entitlement that I hold, that even while knowing that my opinion (although having the right to it) is not always valuable, I still want to scream something at the top of my lungs (or type it in all caps on the internet for emphasis) just to satisfy my need to be heard. I wouldn't consider it as me craving for attention though. I just really like talking... I like it a bit too much, actually. Right now is proof that I can go off about anything for hours on end.
As much as I don't want this blog post to end up as the ultimate P.I.B. blog post, I've been playing with a certain idea for a blog post for quite a while now. I've always had this one line stuck in my head for the most part, which I may have picked up from a movie or a hipster edit of sorts, but that's not important. What's important is for me to relay this stubborn message to you:

This is the sign you've been waiting for.
You want to start a blog? Nobody's stopping you. Do it. Write as much as you want, or take as much photos as you can. It doesn't matter if your sentences aren't deep and philosophical. It doesn't matter if you're using your phone's camera or a dSLR. All that matters is that you're doing what you love and that you're doing it for you.

To whatever it is you've been wanting to try for a while now, but haven't due to fear of being judged - I say do it now. You know what they say... Today is the oldest you've ever been, and the youngest you'll ever be again. Sitting idly at home and complaining about things you'd rather be doing is a complete waste of time. Don't even try to use the lack of money excuse on me, my dear reader, because if you do, I'm buying you your own copy of The Pursuit of Happyness.

Do what you can with what you have, and where you are. Make your life circumstances work for you; not against you. When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Make do with what you have. Yadda yadda yadda, the endless list of P.I.B. quotes goes on and on and on. Do you get what I'm trying to say, guys? If you don't, click this.

Don't do things for the sake of bragging rights or impressing others either, but rather - for a sense of self-achievement. Trust me when I say that this will help you gain a more positive outlook in life. Achieving happiness is better explained in this short comic, which you can read by clicking here.
Just remind yourself not to become a sell-out. What I mean by this is: don't do something because you think it's what is expected of you. Write what you feel, say what you want, shoot who or what you like. Ultimate P.I.B., but stay true to yourself, no matter how many times people try to change you.

Because trust me - they will. And change isn't always for the better.

With all that being said, my point is that I want you to start going after your life goals and dreams. Nothing will ever happen if you keep putting it off. "Oh, I'll do it tomorrow." Right, well, today is yesterday's tomorrow. The world is such a big place, and there is literally so much for you to do, learn, and discover. I don't want to come off as too preachy or anything (I probably already do), but I want you guys to start achieving your full potential. Take things one day at a time, and whatever it is in life that you want to do, then I promise you that you'll get there. Slowly, but surely, and all in good time.
Now for a quick background check on the photos included in this post! My best friend, Chesca, and I finally shot together again after almost two weeks since our last shoot. It took me forever to dress up, and by the time I was ready, it had started raining. Being the wannabe adventurous girls that we are, we braved the rain (although I admittedly stood under an umbrella) to take a couple of photos.

As usual, there was a lot of 'give me a pose's and 'what do I do?'s thrown back and forth between us. This time, however, Chesca pushed her ~*posing abilities*~ to the limit by climbing a tree while the rain continued to pour down on us. You know, all for the sake of a couple of nice photos.
Aaaand if you haven't noticed yet, my package from Brandy Melville has already arrived! The rainy weather gives me an excuse to wear the LA beanie out much more frequently, so don't be surprised if it's included in my blog/Instagram posts more often. Have a good week ahead, guys!♡

  10. This has probably been one of the most inspiring things I have ever read. I hope you continue to inspire people as you did to me (of course, unknowingly on your part). I wasn't sure whether I should start blogging or not because a) I thought I didn't have enough clothes b) I wasn't as stylish or creative as I believed c) I loathed fashion before and I suddenly loved it d) lack of clothing e) age... You sort of changed my thought on being a blogger. You can be anyone to do anything. I'm glad you said this outright. I wish you all the best, Nina! :)

Sorry for the long comment omg O_O

  15. Doing something for ourselves will really satisfy us, no matter what others are saying. But I guess, we should also consider what others are saying and do something for them so all of us will be satisfied :) And making the most of what we have will bring us to the path that will make us happy :)

  21. Wow, Nina!! You didn't just speak for yourself, but you spoke for others' capability of doing what everyone likes. You are really a down-to-earth kind of person! I adore you so much. Thank you for writing this entry; moreover, you don't know (but now you know) how you just uplifted my confidence and self-esteem in blogging. Thank you, really. How amazing a fourteen-year-old girl can somehow change my perspective in blogging. You are an inspiration! I love you. ♥
